Default Considering an 00

Like the title says I'm looking at an 00 Ram. It is a 5.9 4x4 with all four doors.

Clicky!

There is a link for the ad by the local dealer.

It says 8900 but for my 94 Jimmy he would give 1100 for it.

So 8900-1100 is 7800 + 6% tax and a few fees. All in all 8409 on the road.

What do you think? And what should I look for in buying?

Hey, dealer has to make some money off of it. And the 1100 for my truck isn't bad considering it needs a fender painted, has 210xxx miles, and a few other things.

The other downside to losing my Jimmy is the front suspension I rebuilt, the new fuel pump, and the new brakes on all four corners.

But with losses are part of winning so I'll take what I've got.

Looks good, I always look top to bottom front - back, climb under look at everything ,look for paint over spray in all the door jams, under the hood, probably going to need a plenum repair if it has not been done. Not sure how trucks are selling there but I would try to beat him up on the price as much as you can and always remember be preparred to walk away. Oh check out the carfax. Just my opinion

It sure looks clean but might be a bit high.

Well I agree with the price. It is a little high for this economy, but I know the guy and I like him. He does very good business and works well with what he has and he always sells quality vehicles so I'm not going to argue him.

Also I mentioned about my 94 Jimmy with 210xxx on it and he is willing to give the suggested retail for it given it needs some minor body repair.

But as for the plenum rebuild, could you elaborate a little more on that?

No warranty, but eh; what breaks I could fix myself.

And I will check out the carfax.

EDIT: I just checked the carfax and it was originally registered as a corporate vehicle :O

You can fix the plenum problem with the Hughes plenum plate and a Felpro gasket. Another option, if you have gobs of money, is to invest in a Hughes FI intake manifold.

Search here on the forums for "death flash". It was Dodge's solution to the plenum gasket issue. After the plenum issue is fixed, "fix" the "death flash" with either a Superchips tuner or a SCT. Hemifever is a good user to ask for the SCT, excellent customer service.

So what happens exactly? When the plenum fails loss of pressure in the upper intake or what?
