Question Clunking noise in Steering Wheel/Column

I've had a clunking noise that would happen when I have the steering wheel turned for awhile now but it seems to be getting more noticeable. When I have the wheel turned and I'm moving, I can feel/hear a clunking noise that seems to be coming from inside the steering wheel column. It's gotten a lot more noticeable in the past few months so I'm wondering if somethings starting to go. Any ideas?

welcome to my same exact situation/headache. ive had mine in the shop and looked at. and i took it in yesterday to get an alignment, wich did nothing for it because the steering box is messed up and he said he wasnt able to get it straight. but the guy said one major reason for the sloppy/clunky steering is the steering gear box. he quoted me a total of about 850$ for the fix. but im going to get the part myself and see if i cant replace it myself. but yes, my truck also has the clunky noise. its when u turn u can feel it in the steering wheel, and through the floor, and in the peddles right? thats what i have. and these guys on the forum have been very helpin in answering my questions and filling me with info that i realyl appreciate. maybe you have the same problem?

Could be, I can't remember if I've felt it through the floor or through the pedals, I'll have to pay attention to that the next time I'm out.

Can you move the steering wheel up and down or sideways or pull it in and out?

Okay I was in the truck again today. I can't move the steering wheel in/out/up/down. I do feel the clunking through the pedals but not really through the floor, if I do its probably just a little from whats going through the pedals.

hey man, sorry it took so long, it was harder than i thought it would be, but ye its on there, i am actually flushing the power steering hoses and bleeding it, then it will be all set, and ill drive it today and let you know man, but as of right now, i grabbed the steering wheel shaft and it doesn't wiggle as much as it did as all so im hoping this fixed it.

I hope that fixes it! I have that same noise in my column and I have been wondering what it is.
