47RE was not used in the 1500's. It was for the 2500's. Not sure that it was used with the 360 in the 2500's but I don't know for sure. Isn't it only with V10's and Cummins?
You must not have had yours long. I've never had issues with a transmission dying except in a Dodge. They are quite a bit worse than quite a few others out there.
i need a manual to rebuild this tranny i have taken it out and and have tore the valve body off and i am taking out the pump and what other tools and other stuff do i need to get this appart and put it back to geather to run i have never done this before thanks all in advance
Ive owned 2 chevys with both trans craping out on me, and the 46re is still running and shifting smooth at 178,000k. So I can't really say to much bad about mine since both chevy 700r trans went before 150,000k. But I'm still saving for a re-build.

I've owned this truck for 11 years, and have driven the **** out of it in that time. All the guys I work with that have GM full size trucks with over 100,000 miles have had at least 1 transmission rebuild!!
