Seepy Rear End
I was looking at changing out the differential oil and, while I was at it, surfacing and painting the punkin cover. However, the rubber plug does and has always seeped making things look crappy. My friend has a Cherokee that does the same thing. Has anyone heard of a hard bolt plug swap out for this?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I thought most had a metal plug.... mine does. I think the rubber plug comes from the
@$$holes that strip your metal one out at the quick lube bays lol. Should be able to retap the punkin and put in a metal plug when you got it off.

all the 9.25's have a rubber plug. you just need to buy a new plug, probably from the dealer, probably for $4 or $5. mine doesn't leak. you might try one from autozone or somewhere, just make sure the size and lip is right. if you find a cheapo that works, post it.
dana 44/60/70/80 has a threaded pipe plug.
chrysler 8.25/9.25 have a .05 rubber plug. nothing but the best. haha
improved version.

i just can't bring myself to spend $500 on diff covers.
i do like that sheet metal rear cover for $75. i wish they had a similar cheap d44.
so here's a kit with drain/fill for the rear, and drain for the front.
seems kind of expensive at $42 just for the bungs and plugs.

is there any reason why you couldn't just drill a hole and weld a nut on the outside of the cover. put a little rtv on the threads to prevent leaks.
you'd want a magnetic drain bolt.
i wonder if you could buy one?
i wonder if you could magnetize a regular bolt? hmm, we have some magnetizers at work. i'll have to talk to somebody that knows.
