nope! it worked fine i took it and put on stove with a candy temp gauge and it came open. but after i put in new one my temp did go up a little in the cab but the temp gauge remained the same. the previous owner did install a new water pump just before i bought it im wondering if they did not get all the air out of it.

It is possible that the pump that was put on was a high velocity pump. If that were true, then that would cool it more than a stock pump.

Or, perhaps it's the sending unit and not relating to a T-stat as far as the gage is concerned.

I run a 180 and the heater is outrageous in this thing- even when I lived in Boston, never had issues with low heat. I am not sure why you have hardly any heat and why your gage reads low. Is there a sending unit for the temp gage? Similar to the oil sending unit?

one thing i have noticed is with the blower fan on low its cool air coming out of the vents but as you increase the fan speed the temp gets a little warmer

I wonder if it's not some kind of vent issue vs. coolant temp. I don't know much about the venting system but, there must be some sort of mixing valve that allows a mix of cold and hot air. Perhaps something is out of sorts with the vents or, heater core?

A 95 has two sensors, looking at the motor, there is one to the left of the thermostat under the alternator, which is the one for the PCM. Then there is one to the right of the therm. under the ac compressor, which is for the gauge. I would replace them both regardless first to see if the gauge reads right. If it does, but the heat is still cold, it sounds like either a clogged heater core or blend door issue.

It should feel hotter on low fan and not quite as hot on high fan.

That's how my 96 is setup as well. One is the sending unit and the other is the PCM feedback. Great, thanks for that info. Now I know which sensor is which.
