Lucky to be alive...
Ok, this happened to me a month ago, front driver side.. ONE MONTH later, Its about to happen again!? I replaced the entire wheel bearing assbly. Lugnuts, all new.. All torqued.. WHY is this occuring again? I heard noises this time, and caught it with one sheared wheel stud, and four hand loose bolts!
The stock 16in Dodge Rims, and 265/75/16 tires.. However, last month it was a different rim and different tire.. The wheel studs and lug nuts are all replaced, not even a month old yet.. The only thing that hasnt been replaced since the first accident is the rotor and caliper.. Would they cause this? Maybe my torque wrench is off...?I have to replace a wheel stud now, the one is sheared and the rest has wear, so I suppose I will be replacing all of them..

Yes, Rim had to be replaced, it was destroyed.. Ok.. Would a bad upper ball joint cause this? My tire, on as tight as can be, wiggles ALOT.. I checked it, and its coming from the upper ball joint.. WAY to much play!
Its wiggling from side to side (Passenger side to driver side, not up and down) and you can see around the ball joint were it just goes freely

Tie rods arent budging though.. I have someone else prying the tire, and Im watching it.. everything is solid except that Ball joint.. it literally looks like someone stuck a stick in there, its so loose.. I have serious steering issues also, Have had for some time.. truck tried to fight you when you turn a certain way, and wobbles on the road alot.. I checked the tie rods then and they were good.. It never occured to me to check the ball joint.. Im going to replace it for the heck of it, and go from there in the morning. I may have to readjust my steering gear.. I adjusted it tighter to get the driving to straighten it up, and its better, but still not right.. Hope this fixes the problem!
Lug nuts won't have anything to do with other loose steering parts. If you can, take your torque wrench to a machine shop, and they should be able to check it for you. (might charge you a few bucks to do it.) Call around, and see if there is someone nearby that will do it.
Do you have the right TYPE of lug nuts for your wheel? The right threads? Etc.??
