Lift kit
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 of course...I have a 3in leveling kit on it and Im wanting to put a 2 or 3 in suspension lift on it too.... What am I going to need to replace for this all to work???? Drive lines?? Brake lines??? Tacking arms, tracking bar, etc?????
Now coils or spacer shocks, leafs and or rear block. Break lines will be fine Might need a drop pit arm ( I didn't). A new track bar will help to center everything back to stock location. No real need to control arms. My kit came with lower control arms only. I'm still running stock ones.
Alright the only problem that we ran into was when we put the spacers in, the tracking arms were nearly pinching.. The metal plates on top of the tacking bar were hitting together...not sure what they are called...But would a 3in body lift be easier...but I do hear people say that a body lift is a disaster waiting to happen and they swear on a suspension system....???
Im trying to get ideas here from people who have done this before..

Please there control arms. Upper and lower control arms. I have never done a bd lift but from what I understand its about the same amount of work for half the lift. If you are just looking to clear lager tires a bd lift would be the way to go. If you want ground clearence a suspension lift is what to do. I didn't notice the same issue with my control arms but I bet there about at the max.
3" is pretty much the max on the stock suspension components. So you have about maxed them with the leveling kit.
And when you say you want to add another 2-3" suspension lift, that will total roughly 5" if you keep the leveling kit, which is too much on the stock control arms. If you want to go up that high with the suspension, just buy a 5" suspension kit and sell the leveling kit.
Unfortunately, between the 3" and 5" kit is where it starts getting expensive (due to all the other necessary components). If you want a cheap 5-6" lift, keep you leveling kit and add a 3" body lift. Some people are totally against them, but I have had mine on my truck for over 10 years now without a single issue. If I had the money I wouldn't have done one, but...

Yeah, I would like to keep the leveling kit...But Ill look into the body lifts since they are only like $150... Now with the body lift, would I have to get new control arms and extend the drive shaft and what not???
