well im not exactly sure how this works, but my shift kit will allow you to increase or decrease the rpm level that it takes off at. just like a stall converter. i had a friend that was a transmission mechanic that set it. currently the truck will start rollin around 1200-1300 rpm. and its solid. i have to be careful about mashing the pedal down. its a good jolt. maybe somebody with more knowledge on these kits could elaborate on them.

I though a shift kit gave you a harder shift. Less slipping better shifts less burn clutches?

well it does, but this kit i bought from www.apsprecision.com somehow bypasses fluid until that set rpm is reached. the guy i talked to said it was an upgraded kit....i dont remember the details. its kind of a gray area for me.

I can tell you I went with the Kenne Bell but have much more than $1500 in it after its all
said and done. I bought it because they are hard to get and I jumped when someone put
it up for sale on ebay. I can tell you that after the kenne bell went into my truck it was
three months or so until my new transmission went in because I killed my stock one. I've got
to say that if your not dead set on the kenne bell you can wait for another supercharger and
do the top end rebuild. I really wish I had better heads, rockers, springs, and intake manifold
to go along with the supercharger.

i also side with the rebuild..my air gap and SCT work together so amazingly throw in a good cam, and after seeing alabamarams gain with heads. it seems like that would be the best to do..i side with that over a SC

I say rebuild first too. I know it's an odd thing for me to say and pass up boost, but you need a good platform to start with before you start adding the flow to it.

Have you thought about another kind of forced induction?
Possibly turbos?

I don't agree with the fact of what one person said as to the fact that you should ditch the 5.2 and get a 5.9. No need. You can accomplish the same with the 5.2 as you can with the 5.9 It'll just cost some more bones in the long run.

You can get a lot out of a turbo application but remember that they are more often than not
rear mounted. I only bring it up because I see you have a lifted truck, so if you off road it
would not be a good setup to use.

Go with the rebuild, the engine flow is the most importiant thing, always has been. The rebuild will only help that blower or turbo. Build it first, then get a poweradder.

Our stock trannys are good for around 400-450 horses, but im sure itll break quick if your mashing it all the time.

Between blower or a turbo, thats up to you. But...nobody really makes a turbo "kit" for our applications. That being said, turbos are better in the long run. After a certian rpm blowers loose hp gain. But that power is directly there on the line (no turbo spool). Buuuut, that turbo spool can be easily compensated for....i could go on and on... as others could.

Still, smartest thing for you do to would be the rebuild, if your throw on a poweradder it will just wear your engine our faster, best thing is always a build then an adder.

and btw....poweradder on a 5.2 is perfectly fine.(just sayin)

They can be mounted under the hood. Is it a pain? hell ya. Even still, you can route the intake filters under the hood or something along those lines. Still not a cure all, but it does help.
