Default Top end rebuild or supercharger?

ok im curious as to what other peoples decision would be here. say if you had the money, would you go with a top end rebuild, such as new higher flowing heads, m1 or FI airgap intake, cam, and a tune that has reliability OR would you go with a used supercharger such as a kenne bell setup. lets say you have around $1500 to spend. now i have a 5.2 and i cant make up my mind. a rebuild has almost endless possibilities, superchargers, well they can be a hair puller but a lot simpler to install. so lets hear your decision and argument.

i wouldnt do a supercharger on a 5.2, but thats my personal opinion, you should get a 360 from a junkyard (one thats still good obviously) and rebuild that

then i would say do the supercharger

but if you want to keep the 5.2 i would do the rebuild

Some how I doubt a Jasper tranny with Transgo shift kit will stand up to which ever way you go, but certainly not a SC.

now you do make a somewhat of a valid point zman, but i do know that a jasper tranny is stronger than a stock tranny, and there are plenty of people out there than run a stock tranny. besides, if it would ever take a crap on me, ill just replace it again. (with something better of course)

I was just going by the amount of money you said you wanted to spend. A tranny would likely be in the near future. Plus I have not heard too many good things about Jasper tranny's. Maybe the shift kit will help for normal driving, but add some major HP, and you'll be hurting because you'll have your foot in it all the time.

i understand what youre saying zman...if i had the choice, i wouldnt go with a jasper again. i found their crappy ways after i tore into the valve body for the install of that shift kit. that lift and tires, even with gears and some mods, still isnt enough it seems. its so dang hilly around where i live that it downshifts just too much. to have the cruising power to not down shift every 1/2 mile would be great. and also not to bog down when pulling a loaded trailer every now and then.

yea jasper isnt the best, at my garage we put a brand new on in an Acura (whatever the SUV is) and he was back 3 months later becuase the tranny blew. and it had nothing to do with our work.

Just get a stock tranny, and beef it up. theres plenty of ways to make the Stock trannys very very tough
