Ive had success with belt dressing on the sickle drive on a combine header. The belt was completely shot, stretched, slipping/getting smoked very easily under load and I just needed it to last 2 hours to finish harvest before the rain storm hit us. Wasn't a cure all but it helped tremedously in crunch time.

^^^^This is the only time you should use belt dressing ^^^^all other applications are simply not good and will bite you in the anus in the long run. IMHO of course coming from a X-Farmer :-).
