What brand belt did you buy? Make sure it has the same amount of ribs as the pulleys. (or the old belt if you still have it. Don't use belt dressing either.

Take the belt off and turn each pulley by hand and see if one of them feels rough or has any play in and out and also side to side.

And while you have the belt off, use a wire brush and some brake cleaner to clean the grooves of the pulleys.

i'd say they should have no play, no wobble. rotation should be easy and smooth, no roughness, no binding. if you spin the pulley as hard as you can, it should not roar, or sound dry.

you've got several possibilities. tensioner pulley, idler pulley, alternator, water pump, AC compressor, and PS pump.

In the future, please use more descriptive thread titles to make it easier for someone with the same problem to find this thread in a search. Thanks.

How else would you describe a squealing belt?
