Default Fuel Pressure 98 318/5.2 1500 Ram

New to this site. Thank you for taking time to read my post.
I have a 98 Dodge Ram 318/5.2 1500 and I am getting a fluttering at hwy speeds. If I put my foot in it..it pops and sputters..if I put it in nuetral while its moving and rev the motor it seems fine..but once its back in drive and under a load it flutters..105 k on the truck. Just cleaned throttle body yesterday. Took it off the manifold and did it right.
Does anyone know what the fuel pressure is for this truck??
Thanks again

Really old thread to dig up.

IIRC, high 40s. Moving this to the 2nd Gen Dodge Ram section (1994-2001 Rams).

I don't know what the fuel pressure is supposed to be but I JUST had the same problem with mine. I thought it was a bad fuel pump but as it turned out, it was the fuel screen (sock) at the bottom of the fuel pump ensemble. I took it of and sprayed it with brake cleaner an it knocked the gunk and trash right off. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T TAKE THE TANK OFF THE TRUCK!!!!! Take the bed off the back instead. It is 5:00am and I just got out of the shower after working all day. all night and most of this morning trying to put that motherf*****g tank back in place! In short, take a closer look at your fuel pump but DON"T drop the tank.

My tank dropped itself..... (straps rusted out.) It was actually a rather easy repair..... what went wrong with yours that it was such a bear to put back in?

Standard fuel pressure on the OP's truck is 49 PSI. It is not vacuum modulated, so, should be right in that neighborhood all the time.

Before diving in to the gas tank though.... I would make sure that everything else was where it should be. Fuel pressure, plenum repaired, TPS working properly. Also try disconnection the pre-cat O2 sensor, and see if the truck runs any better.

LOL, how does one do that by themselves? I've removed the tank numerous times with no problem and IMHO a lot easier than removing the bed. Plus, removing the tank gives you the opportunity to check and replace the rear brake line, fill tube and tank straps.

I stumbled across this old thread looking for the same info. Found a brief troubleshooting guide with various fuel preasure standards across a few years for the 318. Hope it helps someone in case they run into this forum down the road.
