Default Considering the Dark Side...Somebody stop me!

ok guys, i promise this wasnt planned. not even in the least.

my father-in-law called this morning and asked me to come with him to look at a truck. heck, i didnt have anything better to do, so i went. he is a DIE HARD chevy man...all his life. i have never known him to own anything other than chevy. his motto is "...if they build it, chevy will build it better!"

when we pull up at the lot i followed him down a row of trucks and he had already told me it was a 4 door 4x4...i stopped at the emaculate chevy 2500 crewcab 4x4 and was telling how much better my 95 would look in his driveway. ha ha ha he said. he told me to turn around and there it was. "HALLELUJA...HALLELUJA..." 07 MegaCab 4x4

i was in love...speechless. we took it for a drive and when we got back the deal began. i was so jealous! they were asking 18600 and my father-in-law had them down to 17500 but he wasnt happy with that...he said he wouldnt pay a pennie more than 16000 for a Dodge...lol.

as we walked out i asked him if he would be mad if i bought it...that i would have paid 26...lol. he laughed and said sh*t so, if you want it...h*ll, buy it.

...tomorrow im leaving work early

Well it's up to you. If you have the money, and you want the truck I don't see what the problem is.

Although personally if I were gonna look at a 3rd gen I'd look for a 2500 or 3500. The 1500s have IFS which blows. I'm not into quad cabs either, but that's a personal choice.

I wouldn't pay $17,000 for a gas truck, but again, personal choice.

the 8 lug wheels are because its a "heavy half" which is pretty much a 2500... it has a solid front axel too... right?

That's not a Quad cab

It's a Mega cab, which is the best of both worlds. It's basically a 2500 badged as 1500. It was dodge's answer to GM's Heavy Half 1500.

Good news is it DOES NOT have IFS suspension. It has a solid axle. Hence the 8 lug wheels. Like I said, it's basically a 2500.

Yes. You need to either have this moved over to 3rd gen, or post one over there. They can tell you what common problems to look for. I've got a 3rd gen buddy that bought an 07 megacab not too long ago, and he loves it. The only issue he's dealing with at the moment is the E-fan for the AC has quit, and that's what he's working on.

Bout the only thing I know that you need to be careful of is the LSD failure that the 3rd gens have issues with. The clips tend to break and detonate

Didn't you just port your 2nd gens heads to the thickness of aluminum foil?

you got a truck half done, finish her!
