Yep that what I want to do winch wise. But I really need to see pics of how you guys when about doing the frame work. I'm thinking of doing 1/4 on the front and 1/8 on the sides to try to save some weight. Right now I'm on the fances for the new coils. Its a lot more money that I don't really want to spend.

1/4" works good for mounts/brackets and the center of the bumper, 1/8 when triangulated it pretty damn strong for the outside of the bumper. 3/16" is a good compromise. C channel also works but it's kind of a pain to work with. Just don't go absolutly huge, think about approach angles and such.

Yea I don't want it down to the ground. Like I said he is a welder by trade. So he knows how to do it and do it right. Plus he can get the c channel for free. Unless there is another type of metal I should look at besides plate steel. Mind you this all will be cut with grinder/saw sawzall no plazma at his house yet. He does want to get one put no money for one.

C-channel and plate is what is normally used, square tubing works too depending on your needs.

Grinders take forever for making bumpers and all the dust is itchy as hell but it's cheap. We've got a torch but no plasma, most cuts we do with grinders.

Yea so I'm fine doing channel and diamond plate. 1/4 on the front and 1/8 on the sides and trailer hitch.

Did you just get ride of the stock brackets out right and make your own? Are they 1/4 bolts or 1/2 bolts.
