Default Cereal Killer's 2" lift thread

I decided to make my own thread because I was cluttering up Miami's...

Alright, I'm not sure how this all started out, but I decided my truck needs to get bigger before winter, because I'll probably need new tires before the cold lets up, and I want 33x12.5s next. Would they fit my truck as is? Probably. Would they be a pain in the ***? Probably. I don't really have the money right now to go out and buy the 5" skyjacker lift I want right now, and it would look probably look stupid with 285/75-16s anyway. And I'm not about to go out and spend $700+ on a 3" suspension lift when I am likely going to replace it a year down the line anyway. So this is when I came up with the concept of lifting it 2 inches, and being able to utilize all my factory shocks, steering, etc...

So far I have come up with this...

For the front:
Hell Bent Steel 2" coil spacer
http://www.hellbentsteel.com/catalog...it/category/4/

or

possibly a 2" lift coil spring if reasonably priced, if anyone could point me towards one. I haven't been able to find anything smaller than 3" lift springs, and I would rather use lift springs than spacers if it's not 3 times as expensive or something.

For the rear:

Pro-comp add a leafs
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EXP-13120
or

Skyjacker add a leafs
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SJA-R222/Application/?query=Year|1996|Make|DODGE|Model|RAM+1500+PICKUP& prefilter=1

I'm ending toward the the pro-comp ones as they're $50 cheaper unless someone can give me a reason not to.

As always, opinions and suggestions are excellent, as I'd like to do this with as little hassle as possible. Thanks guys.

I have the hell bent steel spacer in my truck and trust me you won't be disapointed with quality one bit. Highly recommend it! If your a person who doesn't like the look of the spacer, then i think skyjacker does make 2" lift coils (part number D20 ) last I looked. They no longer come in red though. I've never done add-a-leafs so ill leave that for the experts. I threw in some coil overs to help keep me level in the rear when loaded. adds an extra bolt in 1000 lb carrying capacity.

Cereal you been around long enough to know this all been talked about...but on any hand...

it really comes down to preference! I have 285/75R16 with no lift and I only get SLIGHT rubbing on a tight tight turn with a grade, like 4x4. Also that is with stock rims so 5" backspacing.

I was going to do the coil spacing but I just didn't like the idea of the rubber there...so I talked with Olyier(?) and am now going to go out and get the diesel or v10 coil spring replacement. Also I will do an add-a-leaf, 2" I think, to the back.

In addition, even though I probably don't need too, I will replace all my shocks.

If I am wrong please someone correct me on NOT having but wanting to replace my shocks, thanks!

GL on whatever you decide on and if you are ever in the Portland, OR area let me know!

The only rubber is the isolator that is already on your stock coil. The hell bent steel kits are fully welded and powedercoated metal spacers. Don't knock em until you try em. Daystar is the only company that I know of that does the poly spacers. As far as your shocks go... yeah I had the same mindset as you. I don't need to replace with 2" lift, but I did opt to replace my factory ones with 2" lift shocks anyway.

For one thing a 3" lift will not cost you 700+ I was out the door shipped for 485 with opitions. Personaly I would just save the cash for the lift you want rather than spend 70ish dollars on a spacer.

I didn't knock them...I just said I didn't prefer them. Good to know they are metal, thanks your input.

Yeah, but when you search you get a half a dozen or so different answers to the same question. In general I know who to pay attention to and who to ignore, but it helps to get it all into one thread and get some fresh answers.

...Besides it gives me a place to stash all my links and part numbers
