Suspension Clunk
Well didn't get time to get into the diff last Saturday but I did this Saturday! I started with changing the rear brakes, because someone said that might be causing the clunk, and excessive squeaking. The shoe was cracked almost the entire length so I thought that might have been the cause. Wrong. Clunk still there and didn't even make the squeaking stop! I moved on to the diff and that is when I made quiet the discovery! I found a bunch of pieces of metal sitting at the bottom of the housing! After further investigation I saw that the chunks of metal were from the clutch pack in the LSD. All the plates are not lined up, broken, and the driver side clips were broken off. The teeth looked good other than a tiny chip on the ring gear (about the size of a grain of rice). The C-clips were in tact and didn't seem beat up, and everything was solid and didn't move around (other than the clutch pack) I made a video and would like you guys to watch it and give any advice as if you think that is what my clunk is and what not, thanks guys!

If your missing clutch disks that will let the axle shaft flop around and cause a clunk. Time for a upgrade rear gear carrier. You will be tearing that rear end down to fix this, when the gear carrier is out dig around up by the pinion bearing there is a spot up there that will hold more metal bits. Keep driving it and it will just get worse and more expensive to repair later.

Okay, so rear end got a complete rebuild for only $100 (my deductible) with a 1 year, 12k mile warranty. Awesome! my initial clunk is gone now! unfortunately, my much worse sounding grinding clunk is not! After getting under the truck and having my brother move it I found the source! My add-a-leafs are moving around a little bit and cause a grinding, ticking, clunking sound. Easy fix I hope!
