'01 Ram 2500 High Miles
Well guys/gals, I sold my beloved '97 Ram ext. cab last winter, and I am kicking myself ever since, but the lack of rear doors sucked, and it had some issues. O well.
But...Since then I just recently found an '01 Ram 2500 with the gas 5.9 and an auto, it's in pretty decent condition, the two rear manifold bolts are missing, and not sure if they are broke, or just gone, so it has an exhaust leak. The front end feels kind of weird, like it wants to wander, but the steering is straight. It has the infamous, broke cup holder.
Other then that stuff, it seems decent, I havn't gotten a chance to talk to the owner yet, but I did drive it. And the price is definately right, i'm just worried about the miles, It has.... 347,000 miles, but he travels for a living, and that is almost all Highway miles, and it was just him in the truck, so the interior is in pretty decent shape, the bed is beat up badly, but hey, it's a truck right.
I guess without knowing that the trans or engine was replaced, I am assuming that it's the original stuff, So...What all should I be worried about with this many miles? Thanks in advance everybody, I am dying to get another Ram.

i think the price should be a big determening factor. if it is dirt cheap you really have nothing to lose. my dad bought a truck for $200 with 500 000 mile on the stock engine and transmition. it ran great but needed small thing like motor mounts, oil pan gasket and 2nd gear was slipping. he drove it for 4-6 years with no second gear. he ended up selling it for $200 after someone ran it out of oil. he never really fixed a single thing on it.
