Default Transfer case seals

I'm a little confused about which seals I need to get for my transfer case.
The Transmission is draining some fluid into the transfer case. I know this because the last time I checked the transfer case fluid it gave me an ATF shower (about 1-1 ½ quarts).

When I checked Oreilleys website it came up with a few different seals. I'm not sure which ones I need.

Have any of y'all had to change the seal(s) that keep the ATF in the transmission and out of the transfer case?

IIRC, there is no seal on the front of the transfer case, it's the rear tranny seal you need.

i was reading an old thread and a guy said that there is a transmission seal on the back of it and the input shaft seal on the transfer case. i don't know, i guess i'll get the input shaft seal for the trans case and the output shaft seal for the transmission and if they aren't the right ones when i get the t-case off then i'll just go back to the parts store.

Yes, there is an input seal on the t-case.

is that the one that will allow the transmission to leak into the t-case? or should i also get the seal for the back of the transmission.

I would do both anyway, but I assume the tranny seal is what's bad. And btw, I looked through the FSM and all they show is a front bearing on the transfer case.

i got the transfer case off. the cross member gave me a bit of a fuss but with a little convincing from a hammer, it came off. my rear drive shaft also gave me a bit of a fuss on the pinion. with a shot of knocker loose and a few taps of the hammer it came off as well.

i also found out that i need a different seal than one of the ones i got. i'm going to take whichever one doesn't match up to the parts store to get the right one tomorrow.

i'll probably take few pictures and get the part numbers for the seals tomorrow since i couldn't find out which seals i needed to do the job.

Don't you use ATF as a lubricant in your transfer case anyway?

just connect a hose from the tc fill plug to the transmission dip stick inlet and call it a closed loop power flush kit, it'll probably add 10hp... damn. i'm funny this morning.

keegan- yep, and my leak is the reason why. with it leaking though, it overfills the t-case and makes the transmission low.
dhvaughan- good stuff.
