engine surging problem
i've been having a few issues lately with my engine surging under certain conditions. every time i go up a hill when i'm in overdrive, the engine will start to surge. everytime i gas it, when im in overdrive, going up a hill, it surges ALOT. and sometimes it will surge when i'm coasting downhill.
just curious if anyone has any ideas as to what this could be. any info is appreciated. thanks!

the tps is normally what causes surging under load.
surging with your foot off the gas can normally be blamed on the IAC.
the brake switch can be to blame.
the wires on the bottom of the valve body on the transmission could have rubbed through the insulation.
what fixed my surging after a new tps, iac and camshaft position sensor was doing the spark plug wire re-route.

i replaced the tps and iac last year at around this time i think. i was thinking about doing the sparkplug wire reroute, but we'll just have to see. i did however change my tranny fluid earlier this year. but i don't remember there being any wires that were rubbing or touching anything.
there is a bundle of wires on the bottom of the valve body that you can see when you drop the pan. one guy had them rub through and posted about them making his truck surge for a while.

Of course I still suspect the TPS 1st and/or IAC.

i'll look into those...i still have my old tps that worked perfectly fine(it was from a part changing expedition to find out why my truck was stalling last year) haha. thanks for the help guys

no, i have not checked it with a multimeter yet, but i haven't really had the time to do much of anything with it. i'll probably work on it early next morning when i get out of work. thanks for the advice!
