Default Location of IAT on 1997 5.2L

Hello,
I am trying to find out where the IAT sensor is on my 1997 5.2L engine, so I can put a "PCD Performance Chip Stage 1" in it. The instructions tell me where I need to splice it in, but does not physically show where the IAT is located at. I don't have an Owners Manuel to my truck, so i thought I'd ask here hoping someone could tell me just where it is located at.

Back side of the TB is the IAC, not the IAT.

The IAT on a 2001, I'm assuming similar to yours, is on the front, passenger side of the intake manifold. Look here.

However, I do not recommend the "performance chip" that you are doing, most likely off of eBay. Its just a resistor of some sort that changes the voltage coming from the IAT so that the PCM thinks the air is colder than it really is, making the fuel/air ratio run a little more rich. This will give maybe a slight boost for a little while, but eventually the PCM will "learn" around it, and it'll be doing nothing for you.

Don't believe any eBay claims for these, they're all bogus.

No I didn't get it off of eBay. I got it right from the site of the chip itself. The link is: http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/ Thank you for telling me where tha location is, I was thinking that is where it was but i didn't want to do anything before I was totally sure. Thank You once again for your help.

That chip will not work long term.

The long explanation:

It is merely a resistor that changes the voltage that the PCM "sees" in relation to the tables in the PCM for incoming air temperature and causes the PCM to richen or lean out the fuel tables based on the new data. But the PCM also goes off what the O2 sensors tell it about the O2 content of the exhaust gases. Since the O2 sensor is an emissions based check, and the government mandates an emissions standard on these vehicles, the O2 sensor data will take priority over IAT sensor data. It will take the PCM approximately 200 miles to wise up to this mod and negate the effects of it, possibly tripping a code for a faulty IAT sensor.

The short explanation:

You wasted money.

that is a total scam, and does nothing for performance. The best thing you can do is put it back in the box and send it back for a refund. If you really want more power and performance from your truck, spend the money on a hemifever tuner. Its a lot more money, but like anything else, you get what you pay for.
