leave the upstream alone, you dont need to touch it. just put a nonfouler on the downstream if you dont want a MIL.

so i went cut the cat of the truck and was looking at it and someone gutted the cat before i bought the truck.. so i guess i've beenr unning around with a gutted cat and a flowmaster super 44. well i cut the new super 44( 6 months old) off and welded a turn down and its so loud omg... but i'm going to put on headers and do dual exhust in the next few months so i'll probly run dual straight pipe when i do oh and the truck runs great witht he stcok o2 sensors in it

correct

with a sim in place of the upstream your truck would run extremely rich if it even ran at all.
the upstream has to be in the exhaust path so it can control the air/fuel ratio.
the CEL comes on when the rear o2 sensor reads too much gas in the exhaust because it is there to make sure that the cat is working.
the non fouler takes the tip of the sensor out of the direct exhaust and fools the pcm into believing that the cat is operational.

So say you gut the cat and just have the flowmaster 44's on and put a non-fouler on the downstream o2 sensor will it still kill your mpgs?
