in my garage where i work, we dont believe in turning rotors. if they are grooved they should be replaced is how we go. but its very easy to tell if the rotor is gone. and you can get a stock rotor at AZ for like 45 each. i know you said moneys tight, but your rotors may notbe gone since you said theres no pulsating.

the Premiums i got from napa were 37 and change. and obviously thats all 4 pads. they're a great choice IMO for those with tight budgets, and like ive said, i havent had a problem, and they stop my truck great

I got the Wagner Thermo Quiets from Advance. I think they were $50 with a $15 rebate. So far no squeaks or squeals.

My brake pads are squeaking (sounds like the indicator). I want to replace the pads. And what have you all found to be good pads. Not big on buying stock parts from a dealership, as you can pay the same money or even less for a better product at an autoparts store. I was just looking for ya'll for your past experience. With my FZJ80, a good and easy upgrade was putting the FJ100 pads on it. I was hoping for the same sort of input from ya'll. PurpleDodge and 95Ram360 figured me out. Thanks guys. I know that I really should get the rotors turned because I don't know what the Previous Owner did. But the money is tight, and there is no pulsating when braking. And the braking is good. Even with the 285's on there. Just want to stop the squealing without getting worse brakes.

What brake pads (Brand) do you suggest.
There really isnt a cheap upgrade for our front brakes. You can spend $1000 and get billet aluminum SSBC 3-piston calipers and be set, but that costs too much. YOu could upgrade to the 2000-01 1500 2-piston front calipers, but that requires you to swap the rotors, calipers, steering knuckles, ball joints, and possibly brake lines from a 2000-2001 truck to your's.

But if you just want to get some regular brakes, I'd just stick with whatever NAPA has in stock. And I would get new rotors if you dont know how many miles are on them, IMHO. New rotors at NAPA are only $38 a piece, so I would get them if you are replacing the pads.

Does O'Reilly carry Raysbestos brakes? They make good stuff, I have the Advanced Technology Ceramic brake pads. I think they were $60 at RockAuto.com. But if you can get them locally, I'd jump on it.
Here is some Advanced Tech. Semi Metallic pads at Rock Auto:
