My tranny is doing the same as your's, but it's the 3-4 shift. I've replaced the two sensors that were mentioned, and I still have the problem. I've also installed a shift kit, but that has only put a band aid on the problem. After the shift kit install, the problem is no longer as pronounced, but it's still there. I've asked around, and everyone is telling me that it's slipping while shifting into overdrive. I've been doing what I can to baby it for now, but the plans are to get a Doctor Evil tranny when she finally sh*ts the bed. So I'm just giving you a heads up, the sensors probably won't fix it. Good luck with it though.

update:

today, i brought it in to the auto hobby shop and did a tune up. new plugs(autolite 3924's) did the wire reroute(whew! thats finally out of the way). check all my fluids AND adjusted the front kickdown band. THAT (dont want to speak too soon) seemed to have fixed my problem. my tranny seems to shift a lot smoother, and i'm not getting that stalled period i was having.

hopefully this will stay this way. i'll keep everyone updated! thanks for the help guys!

Save your money meanwhile for a trans rebuild. Adjusting the bands will work for now, but not for another 100k.

well, come to find out, it didnt fix the problem. however, what i forgot to mention is that this only happens when it first starts out. like early in the morning after its been sitting all night. or after a while of sitting period. but once its been driven for a short while, its fine and doesnt do it. i can get a rebuild for about $1250 from a mechanic that my family has been using for years. does good work. i still plan on replacing the govenor pressure solenoid and switch and see how that goes. we'll see. any other ideas? let me know. thanks!
