a buddy of mine has pretty much the same truck as mine but he has the 5.9L. H is in the process of moding an intake tb and plenum so when he swaps his stuff out we are going to mod his and put them on mine. I was also think about some roller rockers. but some input on this would be nice

if you want more low end get a 5.9 and put it in, its not hard at all all you need is as follows:5.9l engine try to stick with the same miles as you have on you truck or lower also a 5.9 computer for your year and make sure the 5.9 has the flex plate on it for the mags are balanced with weights on the flex plat also wile your there try a 787 high stall hard drive converter from perfect converter company plus if you do this service the trans wile your there.

I have owned both trucks a 1999 quad cab 4x4 3.55 gear 33" tires w 5.2 and now a 2001 quad cab 4x4 3.55 gear with33" tires and 5.9 theres a big difference in torque from the 5.9 having more torque also the 787 converter make a huge difference and i highly recomend it! if you would like to get the converter let me know and i will get you the # for perfect converter.

A 5.2 to 5.9 swap is not worth the work required. Its what... A 10hp gain?

Steve05ram360 proved this. he put dual exhaust on his truck and kept it 2.5" all the way to the rear end and had the same problem (lack of low end). he redid the exhaust with 2.25" pipes all the way to the rear an got his low end back.
hmmm my truck has the 2.5 pipes on it from muffler back and 3" from cat to muffler...I assume the muffler is helping with my low end power?

I've read that opening up your tb can cost you more torque unless you have other mods to keep up with using the additional airflow properly? any truth to this?

and as far as the 10hp gain going from a 5.2 to a 5.9....its a bit more but where it makes the most difference is torque...and thats what you feel on the low end...

best way to get the power back imo is put the right gears in to match your bigger tire size.....everything including your tranny and speedo will work better and this puts the "power band" and load on tranny and engine back where the factory designed it to be....

Have you run it long enough for the pcm to relearn?

15 hp and 30 ft. lbs of torque. This gap can be bridged by adding a Superchips, roller rockers, and headers. For what its worth, stroking your 318 to 390 would give you more than enough low end torque.
