Don't do it.
First, 3.5 inches is the MAX you're going to get out of your steering before you have to start replacing parts.
Secondly, don't get a spacer bigger than 2.5 inches. Spacers offer you no axle articulation like springs do, and longer springs aren't that expensive. 3" lift springs can be had for about $120-175, or as an alternative, stock diesel coils will lift a 1500 2.5-3.5"

However...4+ inch spacers are just not cool. I mean you could run them on a street truck...but I dunno about a trail rig. Thats a lot of steel hanging off a stock attachment point.
+1 or however many on the 3.5 rule. Once again, for the newbies a good rule of thumb when lifting a second gen front axle is that for every 2 inches of lift you uncenter the axle in the wheel wel and between the frame rails about 3/4 inch.

max if your buying gears for everyone let me know where to meet up with you. i have a 3 month old baby and my hours at work have been cut back to no over time.when you get a little older and have some responsibilities you will understand! until then i will stick with 33's. by the way why didn't you get a 5in lift and 35 and gears?

Just for the "halibut" I'm gonna disagree with the articulation statement. Or can you be specific about where that would happen?
