Default Odd throttle response.

On Wednesday I removed the stock air box and put on a 14x3 round air cleaner. That night every thing seemed to run fine. But today when I was on my way home from work whenever I hit the gas it sounded at felt like my truck was starving for fuel, sputtering and shaking a bit. Also, while driving the truck surges and seems to be missing at anything above 50-55 and is almost undrivable if I turn the O/D on. BUt it does all of this no matter what gear I am. It also popped the CEL after about 10 miles. It also dose it if I am in park and just revving the truck. I was not able to read the codes and I plan on doing it in the morning as well as putting the stock airbox back.

I am getting ready to order the Hughes plenum fix kit, just as soon as I find someone I can mail it to as I cant recive packages at my current mailing address.

The only vacum line I messed with was the one going from the air box to the valve cover, I had to brake off the plastic elbow in pieces so I could place a stand alone breather there. I drove like a dream on Wednesday night and Thursday during the day. I already checked the spark plug wires, it was the first thing I checked.

Where about is the retaining clip, I don't have any binding on my throttle that I can feel or see.

its the white clip that you have to pull out to adjust the cable.
the way you check it is to snap the end of the cable off the throttle body and make sure that it lines up with the little peg that it clips onto when there is no tension on it.

i believe the end of the plastic clip on the end of the cable is supposed to be about 1/16" past the peg.

is it in front of or behind the TB (looking at it). becasu e I don't remember seeing anything like hat even before I put on the 14x3. I was real carefull not to get it the way of any cables because none of the spacers I bought worked.

Well, went and bought new plugs and some accel wires because the the damn parts store did not carry the stock ones. Then went and got the codes read, Missfire cylinder 1, and after looking at the wires again I found one that was melted against the exhaust manifold, so i get to change those out tomorrow, as I really don't feel like ****ing with that right now.

OUCH! Well at least you found the problem, and it wasn't your air cleaner. Hopefully things will run better when you're done.
