I went to replace the brake pads this morning (should be a straight forward replacement). I get the front in end up on two jack stands and manage to wrestle both tires on (the previous owner must have been a gorilla). Start looking at the calipers to figure out where to unbolt them and ...... hmmmm. What is this rubber thing where the bolts should be? Get that off, only to find out that it is in fact the bolt, but you have to have a special "Male" socket to un do it.

So....bolt everythign back up, and plan on buying some more tools. Gonna have to get done over a lunch hour this week.

Any other pit falls, or quirks I should be looking out for?

The good news. I was able to see just how low the brakes pads are. MAN!!! the ones on the passenger side only have about 1/8" left!!

you'll need either a 3/8" allen wrench, or 3/8" allen wrench socket.

i must have at least 7 of each laying aroudn the house.

mine is different fromt he rest though, mine has a 9/16" regular bolt instead, which came as a suprise as i had my 3/8" allen wrench in hand.

I check in every day, just don't always post, as I just can't stomach answering the same damn question over and over and over.

I had 1 misfire the other day, so when I swap cams in a few weeks, I'll basically be pulling her down to block.

New cam, lifters, push rods, valve springs, retainers, keepers, timing set, harmonic balancer, disty cap, and rotor. If it's still misfiring after all that, it's got to be a sensor, or possibly the disty gear and I'll know that when I pull it.

When you're ready for someone from the big leagues to help, give me a call.

that's all we use is Craftsman tools, other than our big impact we used to have, i think that was a Chicago or an IR

we use craftsman for the return policy...and beleive me, we use it, farm equipment is very tough on tools

as far as tractors and lawn mowers, John Deere, same dealer for both

Never gotten rebuilt stuff back from sears most of the time they dont have the part to replace so they end up opening a new box and just giving me one of them, and the only things I broke, I probrably shouldnt have been using them for that anyway
