Question Tranny ?

I have driven my truck 3 times into the closest town from base (15 min) in the past few days. 2 out of the 3 times, it has been stuck at 2200 RPM while going 57 mph. If I let of the gas and give it a little gas, it drops down to 1700ish where it normally is. Is this something to worry about? I just put the 2nd band anchor back in, adjusted the bands, and did fluid + filter. I did all that about a month ago... Could it be as simple as I need to drain some fluid...would too much cause this?

You said it gets stuck at an RPM but not what gear. That would help to know too.

if its at 2200 at 57 mph's thats usually 3rd gear. then when it goes to 1700, thats it slipping into OD

O/D on. If I switch it off when it does this, it doesnt change anything. Why would it be happening off and on? Keep in mind, im in Alaska, where we just hit -20 or below last night...dunno if this could do it?

the reason your rpms arent dropping is because your torque converter isnt locking up. there are a few things you can check...first thing, whats the fluid temperature? second, any wires frayed or has anything been done to knick or cut a wire. the torque converter lockup is electronic.

I dont have a fluid temp gauge, but I would assume it stays pretty cold with the cold weather? All I have done recently (a month ago) was drop the valve body to put the anchor back in. It has shifted fine since then. Where are the wires I should check for the lock up? If they were cut or frayed, would it cause this problem inconsistantly?

It has also been too cold to stand out and check the fluid level, could this cause problems like Im having if its too low or full?

Thanks for helpin guys!

fluid level is very important. is there a garage accessible to you so you can check this stuff?
