Default Remote Tranny Filter Guidelines

I recently bought a remote tranny filter for my truck and I was wondering how long I should leave the filter on before I change it for the first time? Are there any specific guidelines to follow? I just figured that the first time you install the filter, that's gonna be when you get the most junk in your filter. Also, what do you guys prefer when it comes to filters?

Same as the one in the tranny, 25,000. I cut a filter that my trans guy put in (Because the cheap-*** put in a Valucrap) after 5,000 miles and it was barely even coated.

Well, if you are really thinking about it, the crappy filter in the trans can last 25,000 miles, so why shouldnt a high-quality hydraulic oil filter?

here's what i do -
i don't drive a lot, maybe 10-15k per year.
i installed a drain plug in the pan, a cooler, and a remote filter on the passenger side inner fender.
about once a year i drain and refill the pan, and change the remote filter.
i just use a basic oil filter, FL1 or F1 or F8 or whatever it is.
about every 2 years (or 3), i drop the pan and change the internal filter.

that's probably not the best way to do it, but i hate dropping the pan.
