Well, one of two things. The cable out of adjustment can and will ruin the trans, or it was simply already bad or going bad.

the cable is adjusted correctly, i'll make sure again tomorrow, but i'm pretty sure i adjusted it correctly per haynes manual. we'll see i guess. thanks for the help!
