I didn't see any type of connection under the dash but Ill look again. I really want to scan it to see what codes pop up. Im not doubting that the distributor might be bad I just want to check to see what else my be bad first.

Can anyone here with an OBD1 Dodge take a pic of the location so he can scan it? I would but I have OBD2.

and yea you're going to need to put some money in it.

ive had my truck 6 months and this is what ive put into it.

all new suspension, water pump, belt, fan clutch, coil, plugs, wires, dist. cap/rotor, new intake ported and polished, hughes plenum plate, timing cover gasket, intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, pcv valve, breather valve, thermostat, all collant hoses, front and rear diff. flush. had an electrical problem, shackles, ball joints, and exhaust.

before i bought it, it had 4.10 gears installed (rear end blew) new tranny, brakes all the way around. and fuel pump.

It still needs pass. side ball joints, tie-rod ends, sway bar end links, tranny mount, Catalytic converter, 02 sensor (maybe) and axle seals.

she has 195779 miles. and right now she runs perfect. i get 13 mpg's (5.9 360) but In my opinion its worth it. and working on vehicles is my passion so, i like to dump money into them

thought that reading this may make your decision on what to do with it.
the PO installed 4.10 gears in the front and rear axle right?....if not its a bad idea to use the 4x4 on the road at all if he didnt since your front wheels are gonna be turning faster than the rear.... you can do a lot of damage that way..its just like using two drastically different sized tires on a 4x4...dumb idea.

Exactly what I thought. The CPL is bad according to the computer. My teacher told me a way to check it but I forgot. Ill ask him tomorrow before I pull it off.

The actual code says "No Distributor reference signal detected during engine cranking. Check the circuit between the distributor and PCM."
Which could be the CPS but could be other things too.

Here is the link for the code http://dodgeram.org/tech/gas/Trouble/Fault-11.htm

that makes sense...could be some of the wiring...i know i had a bad electrical problem, and it all turned out to be one ground that got so corroded if broke apart.

After I read that it could be the ground I was thinking that that would make the most sense but Ill check all of them to make sure.
