Default all airgap owners- airgap wont work

well i found out why i was getting that huge whisle. The adapte plate i got from hughes is not cast large enough. there is only .022 contact area from the back of the cutout on the bottom side of the tb by the iac to the rear of the casting on the adaper plate(after you account for the chamfer) I will have to call hughes monday and see what happens

Hmm this is the first issue I have seen for the air gaps. I will be sure to check back on and see what happens.

Where do you have the IAC? It shouldn't be on the manifold, adapter, or throttle body.

Jbomb, can you snap a pic of your problem? I might be able to help.

I will post a pic. There is no help per say. The iac is located in the rear of the tb. (I have 3 tb's in my garage and they are all the same.) And the cutout right under the iac only hits the adapter plate by .022

Ok so this inside surface of the tb as pointed out by the pen only hits the surface of the adapter plate(pic three) by .022

tb lands on this surface .022 after the chamfer of the casting. causing a major air leak

put the tb and the adapter plate on my surface plate and both are flat.
The tab that is pointed out by the pen needs to be .100 longer to the rear to get adequet seal
(shown is one of my extra tb. but measurements were taken off of my 53mm which is machined from stock anyway.

any chance you have enough room to elongate the holes on the TB? you said you had three right? might be worth a try...

Cant- on my 53mm the panhead bolts stop just at the edge of the intake bores. If I moved them back .100 then the heads would be sticking inside the bores that much.
