Unhappy 1996 dodge ram temp gauge wont work

my temp gauge wont work, any suggestions?

You need to get a Haynes manual for that(and a cheap multimeter). The manual is only like 15 bucks and the meter is less , and although it's not the best manual , it has tons of stuff in it that will help you for this,and future probs.

Hey man, most likley its the engine cooling tem. sending unit, which controlls the gage. It looks like a screw and its right behind your alternator, next to the thermostat housing with a wire plug on the top. I think there is a way to test for it but its easy to replace and its only like 15$.

It's a 96, so the temp sensor for the gauge is by/under the AC compressor.

Remember, there's two temperature sensors, one is for the gauge, and another for the PCM. The one for the gauge has a black top where the plug hooks in. There's also two metal teeth on the inside of the gauge sensor.
