Default Help Deciding on Wheels and Tires.

Ive been looking around for some black wheels for my 1996 dodge ram 1500. I like the look of the black rockstars but they are so common around here i dont want to get them. Two that im deciding between right now are one the Dick Cepek DC-1 Wheel, i dont know whether to get it in the 16 in 17 or 18 any suggestions on what looks better and the price difference when putting tires on the larger wheel. The other being the Liquid metal magma black and chrome wheel. The only problem with this one is i cant find it made smaller than 20in what so size tire would i have to get to fit this on my truck if the smallest they make them are 20in. Im also wanting some input on tires i do alot of driving on the highway so i need a tire that will last but i would like some decent traction in mud to so i want alittle bit of aggresive tread. The truck is currently stock so what size tires would work with those wheels and does anyone have any other suggestions for wheel tire combos. Any pictures will be great thanks.

Ive read that you would have rather got the 17s do you think 17s or 18s would look better. You got a 3in suspension lift right? Or is it body. What size tires you have running in the sand pics. Thanks for the pics. Anyone got the liquid metal magma on thier truck?

Also would these fit on my truck since they have a 5x5.5 bolt pattern?

Yea I wish sometimes I had gotten bigger wheels, But the price was to go to turn down. With bigger wheels the tires go up in price a good amount so I stuck with 16's. Yes that is with a 3" suspension lift. (soon to be lifted 5") The tires that are the those pics are 255/70/16. That was the only time I have drove in the sand. They did good.

I threw Black Rock 997's (Made by Cragar, same as the Soft 8 but matte black), and General AT2's on my truck. Loving every bit of them.

What do you like to do with your truck? I got a set of 16x8 American Racing wheels for 125, so I couldn't pass that up, but they really do look badass. You should check out craigslist around your area and see what you can get a steal on. In my opinion the smaller wheels make you're tires look beefier. Plus, if you do any off-roading it will be much smoother when you air down you're tires. For tires, it really depends on what you do with you're truck. I have a set of DC Mud Country tires and they are real nice, but a mud tire is loud and wears down a little faster than an A/T tire, which I would recommend the GoodYear A/T tires. My dad has them and they wear great and seem to be pretty versatile.

It really all depends on what you want with you're truck though if you want to lift it, drop it, or whatever you're style is. You mentioned occasional mud, so I hope that helps.

Well i am planning on lifting the truck later maybe a 3 inch suspension lift, was debating on a 5in but i think ill only do 3in. i mainly drive highway but want to be able to go through snow and mud to with alittle off roading. I just found another wheel i really like its the black KMC Monster XD series anyone have these on thier ram? do i need any offset if running a larger wheel than stock? (up to 18in) Thanks everyone for the replies.

would these fit?

If you lift off set will help to make your truck more stable by pushing the tires out from the fenders. I have my stockers on there now and a tall tires and let me say I miss the off set. A 4.50 off set (which they are) will look nice and they wont be hanging out in the wind like mine do. But they look cool. A 1500's bolt patter is 5 lug 5.5.

EDIT: This was before the lift.
