Default differentials

Front: i recently had a my dana 44's spider gears shred when i needed them most (in the mud, stuck at that), i have a open diff in it now, i went to the jy and pulled a diff on a dana 44 for it's spider gears, it was an lsd.
Would the spider gears be able to bolt up or do i need to keep looking?

Back: is there a vin code or anywhere stamped on the truck if my truck has a lsd or open diff. it's a 96 1500 4x4 slt tow package, if that's relevant.

the sticker on the inside of the hood, right behind the grille will tell you what axles you have.

what if you requested the build sheet twice and got an incomplete listing of one option (cloth seats)
and your entire front end from doors forward is off another truck?

then you're screwed. you'll have to open up the diff to find out.
or take the rear drive shaft off and get into some of the soft stuff (sand/gravel/shallow mud) and stab the gas a couple times (for a couple feet) to see if you have relatively equal ruts or just one.

I already pulled the cover to find I had an LSD rear....(and had to have it rebuilt as it soft of exploded and parts where stuck to the magnet in the pumpkin...I've yet to confirm I have 4.56 gears in both axles...(i got to try the chalk trick someone told me about to check it to be safe I know the rear is 4.56)...

If it has not been removed, there is a metal tag on one of the cover bolts.Should say something like 35L, which means 3.55 limited slip.
