My truck used to do this on cold startup, but the other day I found that my coolant reservoir was empty and I was a gallon low on coolant. Obviously the air had come out of wherever it was trapped and pulled spare coolant in. It doesn't make that sound now. Just a little fyi incase you check the coolant and you're low a gallon and wonder where the hell it went.

sorry to bring up an old post, but my 97 dakota does this too. I only hear it when i press the accelerator tho. and it goes away when i let off.

should i attempt to air out of the system, by parkin on a steep angle and running the truck then adding coolant til its full?

That is what I tried and I still have the sound and mine also is only when I push the gas pedal.

I've only had my truck about 3 months now. I also get the gurgle, but seems to be only when it's been plugged in (block heater), and it does it when I first start to drive away, but only for about 5 secs, then it's gone. I have no coolant loss and lots of heat from the heater. I thought if I had air in the cooling system I would have a no-heat condition? No?

My 97 did the same thing for the longest time. Bled the system by parking on an incline, opened radiator cap, started it up and let it run..Keep adding coolant until it stays up to the neck, and don't forget to keep the reservior filled..seemed to help, cause I haven't heard it since.
