Default 1997 overdrive slipping, help ?

I HAVE A 1997 2500 DODGE RAM 4X4, IT SLIPS IN OVERDRIVE (4TH GEAR). IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO JUST REPLACE THE OVERDRIVE UNIT WITH A REBUILT ONE, OR REBUILD MY OVERDRIVE UNIT MYSELF, THEN GO ON WITH THE BASICS, LIKE FLUSH AND FLUID CHANGE ?
