Default Lift Questions

I have an 01 dodge ram sport offroad,
Currently i have 2'' spacers in the front with 2'' addaleaf in the rear and a 3'' body lift. Next i am wanting to put new coils on the front and block the rear, however reading i found that i will need new front end parts. What all would i need and where can i get some coils that will lift my truck another 3 inches or so ?

thanks

Raising up your truck any more would require at least:

1. Drop Pitman Arm
2. Drop bracket for Trac-bar or a new adjustable Trac-bar.

These parts correct front end geometry to compensate for your planned lift.

most people will tell you that if you go any more than a 3" lift in the front you will need to replace the control arms will the proper length units.

If you want to add another 3" to your existing 2" spacers you will be getting 5" over stock. NOW, with the factory offroad package you already had 2" of lift. All the lift manufacturers state: if your truck has the offroad package, subtract 2" fromt the advertised lift. This means an aftermarket 5" lift would only net 3" on your truck.

This may sound confusing, but if you are looking for 5" total over the stock height, you will be getting into some pretty advanced suspension geometry. your best bet is to look into a skyjacker or other brand 7" lift kit, it will come with whatever you need. A 7" kit will net you 5" over stock and will give you proper steering and suspension geometry.

I like when people lift there trucks cuz its funny to me. And silly. You really gain notheing. you can lift ur truck to the moon. But all in all you still have that thing called an axle in the way of hanging up. Now if you want clearance for off-roading lift it and do full independent suspension. Now thats the ticket. LOL IMO

its alot easier to drag to axles threw the mud then it is to drag 2 axles, frame, body, transfercase, transmisson pan, rear hitch reciever, etc, etc, etc....

plus to get more ground clearence under the axles you need bigger tires and what is the best way to make room for the bigger tires????????? A Lift...

if you are to just simply get 3 inch blocks, and 3 inch bigger coils then you would have a 5 inch lift as long as you reuse the coil spacers

You will also need:
New shocks(anything over 3 inch of lift)
New extended brake line.
Maybe a longer driveshaft(some people say 5 inch is max but some say they run a 7 inch lift with stock on)
Tires size is limited to 35s on the 1/2 ton axles.
The drop trac bar brakets
Drop pitman arm
Transfercase indexing ring
Bigger tires and you need dual steering stabilizer
And bigger brakes if you go with really big tires

Thats all i can think of right now

Offroad 101...for every 2 inches of lift you add, you will uncenter your axle in the wheel well about 3/4 of an inch and also un center it between the frame rails a similar amount. You will want to keep the factory geometry for the sake of handling, ride, and appearences sake (no doglegging).

You'll need some longer control arms too, and you'd be best off with some kind of adjustable track bar.

I believe the dual stabilizer is overkill for 35's, but you might consider upgrading your steering to a 1 ton crossover style.

I understand that with bigger tires, but lets think, stock tires are 265 which is what 31 or 32's even if you put on 40" tires still only 4" more. Hey dont get me wrong its cool in all but alot of money to gain 4" of clearance dont ya think?
