Man, I thought the same thing, but it really isn't worth it IMO. I had the same set of speakers in there as what I listed only in a 5 1/2" config and there really isn't that much of a difference. It doesn't out weigh the pain you're gonna go through to accomplish it.

I was going to suggest this very head unit. I am getting it for Christmas lol to poor. But what i would suggest differently is ording it from crutchfield.com. It is $160 (www.crutchfield.com/7714) on crutchfield, but they send for "free" the adaptor plate, the wiring harness, and taylor-made instructions for our trucks. Your going to spend another $22 (trust me) at walmart with the adaptor plate and wiring harness. and then your left without instructions. Plus crutchfrield backs up their products, and has almost all day service at a phone call away, American people to lol. To go along with that i will suggest a sub. I see you have a single cab like myself. This is avalable at Bestbuy (at least mine) with a box to go with it. Its less then 8inchs wide at the bottem, its a 10in sub from sony, its 1200w max, and it fits in our trucks. as far as amps your on your own. idk what im going to get yet. but i will tell you all when i do, and as to how well it perform.

p.s. its great to be back on Dodgeforum.

Instructions for what? Takes longer to solder the wires on the harness then it does to pull dash apart and remove 2--3/8(10mm) bolts, pull out radio, disco gray and black plugs, antenna wire and single black plug(ground), mount dash kit, put in metal radio sleeve, put dash back on and wah lah!!!

i agree. it is simple for someone like you or I who know what we are doing. but for a first timer it can be a little much. so i was simply suggesting.

i wanted a remote start system. but then i'd have to get a clutch over-ride and always leave it in N. to much work.

I didnt mean to kick anyone in the nuts saying Dual is ****...I can understand if you are low on money. But a good point is, why not wait a couple more months, when you have $200-250 and buy a little nicer deck. Alpine and other top notch brands have good decks for under $150 that would be better quality and I think make you happier in the long run.

As far as Kicker, that is all I have ran for sub/amp combos. I guess I have also had Volfenhag as my first system and it lasted a couple of weeks. Kicker has never blown on me (I have made sure to always match up ohms and wattage for the speakers)

With it being said that the square subs hit harder than a round one (minus a W7)...I could agree with that from what I have listened to. BUT a square sub will be less accurate for your music. If you listen to rap, a square sub might be good. If you listen to everything, I would recommend a 10" or 12" round sub...they will be accurate. Square is normally SPL (sound production level) and round is SQ (sound quality)

I have never run a capacitor before, and havent needed one. The biggest amp I have had was 300.1, so it didnt pull as much power. I believe the bigger systems that require lots o power would get a cap.

Also, Pioneer is a deck I left out...they are also good quality. From my experience, the Kenwood Excelon was the most confusing to use for me. Pioneer or Sony easiest and Alpine lost in the middle. It can also vary from model to model. I liked my Infinity speakers also...they were clear and crisp and I was only running off of deck power.

ALright, this is long enough for now. Sounds like others have good advice also! P.S. Match wiring kit for the right wattage amp. Dont get a 8 gauge kit for a 2500 watt amp...most kits will say the wattage max they recommend.

Good point on the amp wiring kit. I have to disagree on pioneers ease of use there are a few sub menus which allows you to adjust things such as the Q-factor and other functions which if you dont know what they are you would get lost. if you stay out of those menus you are correct they are easy. Im not meaning to bash anyone if they have a cheaper brand. I guess you get the best for what your account allows you to but you would be better off saving for another month or to and get a little nicer brand as lblair had mentioned.
