Default how much lift do i need to clear 305/70/17 tires?

i have a 1996 dodge ram 4x4 and i want to run 305/70/17 how much lift do i need,i do not want to put a body lift on it.i would like to go the cheapest way thanks for any help.oh the wheels are 17x9s

Probably none at all. I was able to clear 305 70 16s on my 2WD which are an inch smaller, with no lift and only some minor rubbing.

on a 1500? Try 5".

No, probably just 2'' in the front.

I think with no lift - 2" you would have some serious issues with the fenders meeting the wheels.

I think a 4" would probably be a safe bet. 5" even better.

Before everyone chimes in with what height it needs to be at, what about the backspacing? What is the backspace of the wheel? Be a real shame to spend time and money lifting it to get to fit, only to have them rubbing or hitting because of improper backspacing. Just sayin...

there factory wheels i was gonna put the wheels from the 00-01 dodge ram off road edition on there.
