Default PO505 "Idle air control system malfunction"

Guessing this means the IAC sensor? Again, this will be my third. In as many months.

It is now idling high and did stall a few times several days ago. Well off to the parts store. I guess warrantied parts are like this for a reason.

Open to any other suggestions.

Yeah I get that too, even on my new engine. My mechanic buddy thinks that the computer is shot. I would take it to some one and have them put it on a scaner and see if they can test the IAC circuit. Just my .02

they can be tempermental little bastards.
are all the new one's failing with the same code ?
and are all the new one's from the same local store, same brand ?

if so, you might be in a bad batch of them.
you might try a different brand.
i've had poor luck with autozone brand, and better luck with SMP brand (standard motor parts).

You had a DIY or a tread about that right? Believe I read it back when I started replacing this part.

I have had that for a couple years. After buying three different parts I have traced it back to a bad computer. A bad driver in the computer more specifically.

one of (the severa) times i bought an an autozone IAC and installed it, it was better for a couple of days and then started surging at cold idle again. i swapped it under warranty. same cycle of better, then problems. so i returned it and told them the brand/batch was no good and got a refund. went across the road to advance and got a new one. same cycle of failure. swapped it under warranty, same cycle. hmmm. no codes. hmmm. one day i got a P0123 regarding TPS. hmmm. so i replaced the TPS and the cold idle surge went away. i felt like a dumb ***.

Default Po505 with good idle

I have a po505 that idles good at 600 to 700. I was having to hold the throttle down for a few seconds at start up to get the idle good but, I fixed the vacuum leak and now it idles good at start up. I traced the wiring from the IAC to the PCM. They all four ohm out good. Installed a new Mopar IAC. The code po505 won't go away. What am I missing?

There are two twelve volt circuits there. (thus, four wires) Make sure you are getting 12 volts to two of those wires, with engine running. You can unplug it to test......
