Default Heater problem

I have a 97' Ram 1500 with the 5.9. After the truck warms up, the heater gets good and hot when the selector switch is set to recirculate (using top vents only), but any other setting only produces lukewarm air. Any ideas on why the other settings are cooler? Do these other settings normally blend outside air and if so, is there a way to stop that during the winter months. Any help is appreciated..

Try back flushing your heater core.

yeah, you stop it by using the recirculate option?? Its supposed to make hotter air by not using the blend door I believe....the other options let some fresh air in....which will make it a bit cooler depending on temp outside...if they are a lot cooler flush the system....this is the time of year for these heater and warm air threads ...at least one new one per day this week...(you can find more info on blend door with search option btw...or go to yesterdays threads.
