From what I can tell, When dodge changed the dash style in (1998?) They changed the headlamp switch too. Mine is a pull switch, The ones that ive seen light up are all twist style, Like twist right once for parking lamps ect. Instead of the pre-1997 rams that you pull out for parking lamps ect.

 

Mine is a 2001 Laramie SLT and it does not have a light up ring

haha nope. I wonder how hard it would be to change it to lighted. I am going to the Junkyard tommorow. Might take one all apart and figure it out. Junkyards are great for that. lol

the light around the ignition is called a halo light.

 

The ring around the key on mine is illuminated. The head light switch however is not.
