Default Questions about transmission in 2500

There is a 2500 w/V10, 4x4 that is still available that I'm still considering.

What transmission does the 2500 have? Is it known to better better or as bad as the 46RE that is in the 1500?

thanks,
pf

I think its the 47re. they have the same weak points but they aren't as bad if I'm not mistaken

Pretty much correct. The 47RE is a much better tranny than the 46Rx, but they still have a few issues.

The V8 2500's got the 46re (or rh), while the V10 and diesel trucks got the 47re, is that correct? What about V8 3500's, did they get the 46 as well?

Yes.

Not sure, as all the 2nd gen 3500s I've ever seen had diesel or V10 engines. The 2500s with V8 were classified as LD (Light Duty) trucks, so I don't see them putting a V8 in a 3500, which are all classified as HD trucks.

My understanding is that the 46 was behind the 5.9 mag and the diesel/v10 used the 47 while the newer diesels get the 48. The only real difference is the # of clutch discs (which req'd a larger drum) but you can get kits with thinner discs and steels to allow an increase in # of clutches in the std drum.
