Not to sound like a noob, but what is the point of getting a CB nowadays?

Duals or singles? According this site which appears to have tested them not much difference if you can't get at least 9 foot seperation.

I don't know anything about CB's, so pardon my stupidity.

But why not mount one antenna in the front of the truck and one in the rear?

I had a Connex 33tlm3 hooked up in mine and this thing TALKS! I went with the single Wilson 100 magnet mount antenna. I used to have the dual wilson 4fgt's on the tool box but the cb shop I went to said he could not morally sell this Connex to me if that was the setup I was using. If the antennas are closer than 8ft together, then you run the risk of burning up your radio. Something to do with remitting signal against each other. Also if you have an antenna that is behind the cab and lower than the roof you could be getting some rebound off of the cab itself. I have always been told that 1 antenna as high as you can mount it is the best. I can sit in Downtown GR,MI and talk to Musk,MI with little problem. Of course not on that sesame street of a channel 19. Oh and by the way... Do not hook your power and ground in with any other circuits. Let it have it's own fusable linked circuit, and ground. Trust me.

Because it will put your optimum signal output basically right in the center of your truck, If you need to talk to the guy in the bed just use the slider window.

yeah, from what I understand duals don't work as well as singles, unless you get them decently far apart (I was told they work excellent on a semi or something), and then they are wonderful.

Well I wanted one because a lot of friends have them..If we were going fishing/hunting/driving around whatever - it'd be an easy way of communication. Plus mine had the weather which I thought was neat, and if you were stranded somewhere it'd be nice to have as well.

No, unfortunately it's sitting in my room.

I was waiting on a shop to order some antennas/ish, and then I totaled my truck..So I might just sell it, or wait and put it on the next truck.

Trust me, hold on to it. I sold one of mine and regretted it. You pay 100 bucks and maybe lucky if you sell it for $30. I hardly ever use mine but I keep it installed for emergencies. My Fiance got lost and stuck in a snow drift, that was the only way we could communicate in the U.P.
