Default New guy, intro and question

Greetings all. I've been hanging out on here for awhile but this is my first post, so introductions are in order. I bought a '98 Ram 2500 Lariat edition a few months ago w/ 225k IIRC. So far I have done new brakes, rotors, plenum fix, 180 thermostat, IAC, nerf bars, 14in aircleaner and recently got new 285 Nitto Grapplers (couldn't afford to replace the 305s that it had on there when I bought it). I've learned a ton about these trucks already from the site.

Now to my question. Recently when I've been driving the 4wd light will start flashing on and off. Sometimes it happens the whole time, sometimes it stays solid, sometimes it stays off. I'm thinking it could just be a short but I'm not sure. The other weird thing is that it goes off completely if I put the truck in 4HI or 4LO

Anyway, here's some pics:

Welcome aboard Crash. Nice looking rig you have there. My truck is an '02, but don't have the light problem in 2wd, but mine flickers when in 4wd. I just figured it is a connection issue and that I needed to clean up the contacts when I correct all of the other issues I have. How do you like the grapplers? I have been looking at those myself.

The Grapplers have been great so far. There's plenty of bite on them, but still ride smooth while goin down the highway. I paid $500 for them installed.

Welcome to Dodge Forum!!!

First off, your truck looks great for having 225,000 miles on it. Your truck is a SLT Laramie, Lariat is a designation for silly Ford trucks. Also it looks like you only have a 2'' tall filter on there, you can go for a 3'' for more filtration.

I cant help you with the 4WD problem, though.

My mistake on the Laramie/Lariat, I was in the middle of writing code when I wrote the post . I'll look into the Posi-Lok. As far as I can tell the 4x4 engages/disengages ok but acceleration is a bit sluggish at times.

Did a full tuneup right after I got the truck, changed the plenum not too long after that.
