Default 180 degree thermostat

wondering how much power is increased by installing a 180 stat, and what does a 99 ram 5.9l come with?

+1 195 degree for 3.9L 5.2L and 5.9L Correct me if I'm wrong.

Power is increased by 0. All a 180 t-stat does is help things run cooler so that other performance mods you do run (like PCM programming with timing advances) will be less likely to cause you to ping by keeping cylinder temps down. By itself, a 180 t-stat is not a power adder.

we come with about 245 HP IIRC in the 5.9's

Okay cool thanks guys and yes it’s the 4.7.will be returning the 180 stat than. should I just run a high CFm fan instead of the clutch fan? The only time it get over 80 here is in the summer.

ooopss my bad new to the forums haha. I also have one other thing the car never overheated when I bypassed the heater core. Once heater core got replaced my car wants to run at noon on cluster.

Good news, it was the fan clutch. No heat or ac no electric fan. The D sits just right over the 100 on the dash.

195 is stock and with a computer, unless you reflash the computer, it will cause your mileage to tank.
