Default ABS light on... updated

I've tried nearly everything that I found on this forum.
Alright a short history.
This summer the main brake line (over gas tank) ruptured.
Truck sat for 2 weeks I replaced entire brake line with dealer line.
Bled brakes all was good.

In beginning of Nov replaced pass side ball joints and universal.
all was good.

I drove it a couple of times the next 2 weeks and the ABS and parking brake light came on.

The day it came on it was raining and I had never re-installed the tupperware in the wheel-well (drivers side) from putting in the brake line.

SEE where I'm going with this?

So I thought it was just some water got splashed up into the abs modules, and caused a fault. (Since most of the electronics are right above this wheel-well)

I can't figure this out and Will most likley buy an ABS reader if nothing else works.

4WAL 2001 ram 2500 4X4
1. RWAL speed sensor checked seems ok and spedo works
2. No brake leaks/fluid level good too
3. No codes but abs won't show on mine only p codes
4. Checked connections on nearly every ABS related sensor
5. removed ground from battery for 5 minutes and even tried a second time with the key held in the start position for 20 seconds.
6. ABS fuse in drivers compartment and relay under hood ok.
7. Brake lights not on but work when pedal is pressed.

Sequence goes like this turn ignition on all lights go through self check then off then about 2 seconds later the ABS light comes on... Parking brake is on the whole time due to me being parked on a hill and me having the brake on.

Any help is appreciated as is feed back on ABS code readers.
Thanks Vee

Do you know someone at the dealer that can hook up a DRB3 and ck for stored codes?

No, and the 2 dealers in my area are 20 miles away. And I've been working 12 hr days so I can't get to them anyway.
I guess I'll drop some money on the reader this weekend.
Thanks for responding...

i had a similar problem but both lights were on and wouldnt shut off wound up on a hunch using an adapter the speed sensor came with replacing the 2 wire harness to in front of the gas tank problem gone for quite some time now wires comprimised worked good enough to have the speedo work but not the abs. out of curiosity i took the old wires and connector jumped out the connector and tested ohms across the wires and there was resistance to them

So I've been busy and havn't checked the resistance on the harness to RW speed sensor. But I picked up a code reader for ABS.
The actron brakescan
Thought I researched it well enough BUT...
The book says it works for
03-05 ram 2500's
02-05 ram 1500's
01-05 durangos and dakotas
01-05 vipers
99-05 grand cherokee
01-04 caravan/grand caravan
and alot of other 98-05 dodge vehicles (Probably beyond 05 but the book doesn't show them)
The problem is i have the 01 ram 2500

so dodge GURUS why are the years and models different?
i would think they would have used the same system on the dakota and ram anyway
I'm gonna try it in the morning anyway as an 03 2500 and 01 dakota...

Thoughts or explanations

Just fixed mine the other day. It was the brake light switch. My brake lights worked also. But for $16 bucks it was worth a try. It also cured my cruise control problem.

well the code reader knows this isn't a dakota or a 3rd gen.
so it wont talk to the module.
But i started to ring out the sensors front drivers SS good 995Ohms passanger SS open...
Got down in the wheel well and pulled the cable off the mount bracket so I could move it more and...........
Rotor cut into the wire......Great...
Oh well..
so these sensors just pull straight out of the hub correct? (after taking out the 6mm bolt)

And I'm gonna keep the reader it'll work on my Trailblazer...
