You need A/T type tires, IMO, for snow. My wife's Jeep highway tires do poorly compared to my truck's A/T tires. She was so mad when she got stuck in the driveway a few days ago after we got almost two feet of the white stuff. I shoveled all but maybe two or three inches off the driveway, and she got stuck. 4WD full time, then part time... no difference.
The truck, even with no weight yet in the back, made it through fine.
To the OP: I get 12-12.5 MPG with my lead foot during the summer. With extended 4WD usage during the winter, plus temps ranging from -20 to 20 for most of the winter, I get 10 to 11 MPG. Granted, one reason the drop off isn't to terrible is because I obviously ease off my lead foot during the icy winters.

what size tires and what gears? what is your rpms at 70mph? do you have the 5.2 or 5.9? larger than stock tires and stock gearing will make the truck a dog and you'll be dumping a lot of unburned fuel trying to get out of the hole (accelerating) with your foot on the pedel since it would be less responsive.
