I'll give you that...but the cummings has a WHOLE lot more torque and power to be had by rather simple mods. They will also last MUCH longer with less breakdowns than the problem prone & poorly designed 360. My dad has the cummings in his 97 dodge and there is simply no comparison between towing or mileage...never broke down or thrown a code yet either.

2 wheel drive. one advantage the v6 does give me though it is lighter so even with a 2 wheel drive i can get through, or out of somethings a v8 may have problems with with the weight

just a quick ? for you guys now my ram is a 2001 quad cab 5.9 4x4 auto black and silver 2 tone with 66,000 act mi right now with only 1000 mi on the fresh trans and converter.
it has a 3" rancho lift kit 33x12.50 tires with 3/4 tread and american racing baja wheels.
only rust is on the bottom of the stupid doors even under the truck is still very solid and the truck looks great but the doors!

now a friend of mine wants to trade my his 1997 dodge 2500 4x4 cummins club cab short bed auto with 211,000 mi and 25,000 mi on the rebuilt trans,
as far as mods go it has 315x75r16 tires on the baja wheels bush wacker fender flares,
westin brush guard 5" turbo back exh and a 330hp675tq fuel pump stop plate
i cant really tell the true condition of the truck because he has the bed coating on the bottom like 2 tone and the fender flares may just be covering up rust?
also he has been very hard on the truck as far as that goes he literally runs the crap out of it doing burnouts blowing smoke every where heck i even seen him at the local dragstrip etc but he does do the proper maintence.

i have seen this truck turn an impressive 16.2 in the quarter mile not to bad i guess.

would you think this would be a good trade or not? i do like the cummins (my dad ownes 2 one 1999 3500 other 2001 2500) i know the cummins is a very reliable engine but if you run the crap out of it will it still be reliable?
also if you dont know the 1997 has the bosch p7100 mechanical fuel pump and i have seen them last 8000hours on a case 1896 tractor with the 5.9 cummins and the 7100 pumps rarely go bad.

I am very content with my truck but i have always wanted a cummins im just looking for some feedback on what you think.

honestly, i would not trade my truck for it, but in your case, i would trade... all yoru doing is gettting a very good truck for a decent one... but look into that 97, cause there has to be a reason who ever it is gets rid of it...
